Grocery Assistance Program

Grocery Assistance Program – G.A.P.  (226-314-0882)

We are proud to announce the start of The ‘G.A.P.’

The Grocery Assistance Program aims to respond to the needs of individuals C.L.G.W. supports in the Supported Living Program (SIL) program by giving them some much needed grocery items monthly.

Did you know that over 50% of people on social assistance access a Food bank on a regular basis? Or that market rent in our area ranges from $650 to over $900/month? Many of our SIL members do not live in subsidized housing nor get any extra funding for their rent. Did you know that the current wait time to move into ‘housing’ is over 8 years. This creates a financial strain by leaving very little funds left to cover monthly expenses.

With the Grocery Assistance Program, we try to help bridge the ‘gap’ between running low or out of food and having enough to eat until the end of the month. Individuals sign up to receive groceries through their Support Worker or through the G.A.P. phone number. The G.A.P. operates out of ARC the 3rd Monday of every month from 10a.m.-12p.m.

But… We need YOUR help!  We graciously are asking everyone if they can donate non-perishable items for the Food Pantry. We also are making our efforts fun. The groceries donated will be weighed and recorded. Every month a special reward will be given to the program or person donating the most. Look for donation boxes at ARC  or call the program at 226-314-0882. . To sustain the program we also will be planning some special events. Our intention is also to connect with other community agencies and sponsors to help build inventory.

Thank-You
