It’s That Time of the Year to Register Overage Dependant Students
If your benefits plan includes health and dental coverage and you have employees with dependants aged 22-25 who are attending college or university full-time, please let us know. This will ensure these students receive uninterrupted health and dental coverage.
There is no increase in premiums for continuation of coverage. Registration can be done:
- Online via the plan administrator website
- By completing the “Request for Overage Dependant Student Coverage” form and enclosing it with your next premium cheque; mailing it separately; emailing it to group.administration@empire.ca or faxing it to 1-888-841-9145.
If students are going to school outside Canada, there is a different process. Please contact our Customer Service Unit at 1-800-267-0215 or group.administration@empire.ca with the:
- Insured employee’s name, group and certificate numbers,
- Dependant’s name and date of birth,
- Name and country of the post secondary institution,
- Exact start and end dates for the current school year,
Confirmation that the dependant’s provincial health insurance coverage has been extended.
