Passport has officially started back with in-person supports, for a few people we support in the community.
One of those people is Christopher. Christopher is a wonderful man who attended the Day Services in Harriston regularly before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down. Unfortunately, he has been at home for the past five months with limited options to be in his community. His mom, Kathy, was happy to hear that we could offer Passport support, to provide a well needed break for Kathy, and for Christopher to be back out in his community!
With Passport returning for people, our expectation is that each person wears a mask, whether in the care, while going into stores, centre, etc..
Kathy mentioned this could be a problem for Christopher and could limit the supports that could be provided.
During the first meeting, Christopher would instantly remove the face mask as soon as it was put on. Kathy knew that he would not keep it on so a face shield was recommended. Christopher’s mom found a face shield that attaches to a hat! He is use to wearing hats so on his next day of Passport supports, Christopher tried it on.
Below are two pictures of Christopher wearing his new hat with his face shield attached. He enjoys it so much he did not want to remove it to drink his coffee!! Being able to get out and enjoy his community safely with a Passport DSP has brought renewed value and purpose to Christopher’s day!
Oh the adventure ahead of us!
At this time, support through Passport remains limited.
If someone you support, or someone you know of, is looking to get going with Passport support, please contact Lisa (rural) or Linda (Urban/Guelph) to discuss options.
