Ryan is a resident of North Wellington who
receives passport funding and is supported through CLGW. Ryan loves getting out
into his community but with the COVID-19 Pandemic, he has not had many
opportunities to do so and like many others, this has taken a toll on his
mental well-being. Ryan felt that he had
nothing to look forward to like he use to.
Back in the Spring, the Passport guidelines
changed to allow the temporary purchase of electronics, art and craft supplies,
etc. This was meant to help people stay home well during the Pandemic. One of those temporary changes also allowed
the purchase of video game systems and games! Ryan loves to game so he asked if
he could use his passport funding to purchase some.
Although a video game may seem small, it
made a BIG impact on Ryan’s mental well-being. He finally had something to look
forward to everyday and something to keep him occupied while self-isolating at
home.
Ryan would like to look for
a job once he is safely able to do so, and Passports can help with that too! He
is looking forward to getting back into his community.

Christopher is a resident of North
Wellington who receives passport funding. Since COVID-19, Christopher has not
had the opportunity to explore his creative side.
Christopher has
previously enjoyed scrapbooking so his passport worker reached out to a local
scrapbook store to see if they could offer a space to work on projects.
Younique Scrapbook Store in Mount Forest offered scrapbook classes to
Christopher as frequently as desired.
During Christopher’s first class, his
passport worker noticed a smile on his face, which has been a rare occurrence.
Christopher has since completed 3 scrapbooking classes and has increased his
skills and independence with placing the pieces and pictures.
Christopher hopes to reconnect with a friend through the scrapbooking class – an interest that they both share. Scrapbooking today, a town of opportunity tomorrow!
Passport has officially started back with in-person supports, for a few people we support in the community.
One of those people is Christopher. Christopher is a wonderful man who attended the Day Services in Harriston regularly before the COVID-19 pandemic shut everything down. Unfortunately, he has been at home for the past five months with limited options to be in his community. His mom, Kathy, was happy to hear that we could offer Passport support, to provide a well needed break for Kathy, and for Christopher to be back out in his community!
With Passport returning for people, our expectation is that each person wears a mask, whether in the care, while going into stores, centre, etc..
Kathy mentioned this could be a problem for Christopher and could limit the supports that could be provided.
During the first meeting, Christopher would instantly remove the face mask as soon as it was put on. Kathy knew that he would not keep it on so a face shield was recommended. Christopher’s mom found a face shield that attaches to a hat! He is use to wearing hats so on his next day of Passport supports, Christopher tried it on.
Below are two pictures of Christopher wearing his new hat with his face shield attached. He enjoys it so much he did not want to remove it to drink his coffee!! Being able to get out and enjoy his community safely with a Passport DSP has brought renewed value and purpose to Christopher’s day!
Oh the adventure ahead of us!
At this time, support through Passport remains limited.
If someone you support, or someone you know of, is looking to get going with Passport support, please contact Lisa (rural) or Linda (Urban/Guelph) to discuss options.

August 26, 2020 to all @clgw.ca emails From: Human Resources Subject: Kronus New UI
As previously communicated, Kronos will be moving to a
new UI (user interface) effective September 17th, 2020. On this
date, you will no longer be able to access the classic UI, and the way you
navigate the system and complete some tasks will change.
The above link is a presentation that will provide details on the capabilities of the new UI, and will provide direction on navigating the pages most frequently used by staff.
You may have noticed the “Try Our New Look” button currently in the top right corner of Kronos.
This button will allow you to access the new UI and practice navigating prior to the permanent switch on September 17th. Once you have entered the new UI, the screen will appear blank. Click the 3 lines on the top left of the screen and pin the menu to navigate through the different areas.
I recommend
switching to the new UI periodically to get comfortable with the interface and
ensure a smooth transition once the classic UI is no longer available.
Lastly,
please see the link provided below to access and download the new Kronos Mobile
Application:
*** Please note, this UI update has been delayed until September***
Effective August 18, 2020, Kronos will have a new look!
How you navigate to the menus in the system will change. We are currently working on instructions and pre-setting up of your dashboard to more easily locate your regularly used items in Kronos.
Also with the upgrade, we will be enabling access to the latest version of the Kronos Mobile App. Instructions will be coming for this as well.
